Dog Training

Talerie Brown has more than 30 years of dog training experience.  Group and Private classes offered at Francis Kennels as well as private lessons in your home.

Some of our accomplishments in 2009:

1.  We have a partnership with Purebred Rescue Organization of Ohio, Inc. (PRO) and we helped them with many of the 199 dogs in 2009 that were adopted through their rescue.  The dogs are trained in pet obedience at a local prison institution, and all the dogs were spayed or neutered prior to placement and vaccinated and treated for medical conditions by Veterinary Associates Animal Hospital.  Francis Kennels assisted in boarding many of the dogs on their way in and out of rescue.

2.  Companion Animal Partners (CAP) is our service dog program, and also partnered with PRO. We placed several service dogs with families that needed them in 2009.  We are hoping to provide more of this service in 2010. 

Talerie worked hard teaching obedience in 2009.  She taught 448 private lessons and took 7 dogs through In-Board training.  In-Board training is done daily while the dog boards at Francis Kennels.

Talerie also trained her German Shepherds in Schutzhund in Indianapolis with O.G.  Indianapolis und Polizei with training coach, Mike Diehl, National Winner of 2009 USA Schutzhund and 16th at the World Championship in Krefeld, Germany.

Talerie taught and certified 3 dogs in 2009.  They are as follows:

1. Bessie, a Bloodhound in Man Trailing

2. Mingus, a Field Lab in Search and Rescue work with Jeremy Leming, Indiana Task Froce Member as well as O.G. Indianapolis und Polizei.

3. Bak, imported from Czech Republic, was titled and earned his BH, with Talerie as his handler, in (companion/temperament test) in Schutzhund.
